What Makes This Homemade Oat Milk Special

This oat milk is wonderfully creamy and easy to make, using only natural ingredients. It’s entirely gluten-free and dairy-free, with no added gums or oils — just pure, wholesome goodness. By blending oats and water, you get a mild, creamy plant milk that’s naturally sweetened (especially if you add a drizzle of maple syrup or a date).

It’s also budget-friendly — far cheaper than store-bought oat milk — and customisable to your taste. You can adjust the thickness, sweetness, or flavouring to make it perfect for your morning coffee, porridge, or baking recipes.

Serving Ideas

Homemade oat milk is incredibly versatile. Pour it over cereal or granola, blend it into smoothies, or stir it into hot drinks like coffee and tea. It works beautifully in baking, pancakes, or sauces that need a neutral dairy-free milk.

For barista-style frothing, use slightly less water to make a creamier version — ideal for lattes and cappuccinos. You can also warm it gently for hot chocolate or golden milk. It’s your all-purpose plant-based milk for everyday use.

Storage & Freshness Tips

Store oat milk in a clean glass bottle or jar with a tight lid in the fridge for up to five days. Shake well before each use — natural separation is normal. Avoid over-blending, as this can make the milk slightly slimy.

If you prefer it sweeter, add a pitted date during blending or increase the maple syrup slightly. You can also add a pinch of cinnamon or cocoa powder for a flavoured version.

Optional Tips & Variations

  • Do not over-blend — 30–45 seconds is plenty to avoid a slimy texture.

  • Add a date or two for natural sweetness.

  • Use ice-cold water for the smoothest, freshest result.

  • Flavour with cinnamon, cocoa, or a drop of almond extract for variation.

  • Strain twice for extra-smooth milk (optional).
